White Hamburg bantam breeding flocks - reviving some old bloodlines.
We are pleased to announce the acquisition of some rare White Hamburg bantams and two pairs of White Hamburg large fowl from long time Hamburg breeder Earl Schmitz of San Miguel, California.

The most famous devotee of the Hamburg breed was L. Frank Baum who, in the 1800's wrote the Wizard of Oz books.

These birds are truly a dual purpose breed; the bantams lay eggs comparable in size to medium size Leghorn eggs and lots of them.  The large fowl consistently lay large white eggs regardless of heat or cold.  In type, the birds have exceptional width through body and head.  Just all around really nice birds.  We have several pairs and trios for sale.

The eggs are fertile and the chicks hatch quickly.

Our newest addition to the poultry yard: two pairs of exquisitely beautiful and gentle Sebastopol Geese.  We will post some pictures of these lovely birds in the upcoming days.

We are re-establishing our flocks of rare breed exhibition poultry. Once again, Serena's Black Langshans are gracing the ranch.  Langshans are the oldest known breed of domestic fowl, having originated in China thousands of years ago.   Combining the best of bloodlines, these lovely, stately birds are a delight to work with, being calm and productive. See pictures on the "BLACK LANGSHANS" page.

For photos and information on our lovely and unusual White Crested Black Polish large fowl, please see our WC BLACK POLISH page.

And as always, Seth's Single Comb Dark Brown Leghorn Bantams are on the rise.  Last years hatch was small but produced some lovely birds with good color, a minimum or absence of striping in front and good overall balance.

Our utility flock has been in use as our "chicken tractor"...which translates into a bottomless cage which we move around to areas which need weed abatement.  The girls are doing a great job and producing some nice, bright orange-yolked eggs as well.  Try one in your garden!  We'll post more information in the coming days.

We are offering some Red Star pullets for $20 each, raised on "natural" poultry feed, just one step down from "organic".
